For dog owners who hate to leave the furry family member behind, we found some canine-friendly places where you can grab food and drinks with the pooch by your side. Tails will start waggin’ when you look into those sweet eyes and say, “Let’s go!”

Pat’s Corner at Grand Lodge

This is the perfect setting for a dog days’ afternoon. A short drive to Forest Grove, and you and your pup can enjoy lunch and some live music on a pet-friendly patio. Pat’s Corner at McMenamins Grand Lodge is named in honor of the McMenamin brothers’ mother and offers one of the more stunning settings in the McMenamin’s growing empire. Bonus: pets are welcome to stay for the weekend at the lodge, too.

Sniff Dog Hotel

Sniff Dog Hotel begs the question: are you taking your dog to happy hour, or are they taking you? This is the epicenter for dog owners in Portland. Established in 2010 as a boarding and day care option for pets, Sniff recently expanded to an entire city block, offering the ultimate puppy-centered happy hour: free daycare in an enormous indoor play park for them and seasonal beers on tap and snacks for you, with a viewing window so you can keep an eye on your best friend.

Verde Cocina – Sylvan Highlands

We discovered this option quite by accident, suddenly craving a margarita and some Tex-Mex after picking up the dog from daycare at Sniff Dog Hotel. Besides having the best farm-to-fork Mexican fare in town and crave-worthy, fresh-squeezed, lime-infused margaritas, the Verde Cocina Sylvan Highlands location (one of three in Portland) offers an expansive deck and welcomes dogs. They’ll even provide a dish of water, so the dog can quench his thirst while you quench yours.

Lucky Labrador Brewing Company

With a lab as a logo, Lucky Labrador Brewing not only welcomes dogs, they honor them. With four locations, dogs in every corner of the city can enjoy an afternoon out with their humans. Shade and water bowls for Fido, bento and brew for you—doggone heaven.

Tin Shed Garden Cafe

Tin Shed takes animal hospitality to a new level, selling $8 bandanas for dogs and donating 100 percent of the proceeds to the Odd Man Inn Animal Refuge. Bring your dog in wearing the bandana, and anything on the dog menu is fifty percent off. Excellent brunch for you and puppy, too.

Bonus: Anywhere on NW 23rd

We challenge you to stroll down NW 23rd Street without running into a dog on leash every ten feet. Northwest 23rd has established itself as the avenue for canines, where dogs rule and nearly every restaurant with outdoor seating welcomes them. Want a bit of canine irony? Dogs are welcome outside at Matador, kids are not.
