Sun dresses and open-toed shoes have long gone into the closet, but a Oregon’s farmers’ market-goers are still swooping up produce at the local stands. Year-round markets see more than of sixty percent of their summer patronage, and more are jumping on the wagon.

Though squash and hazelnuts are about the only thing traditionally in season right now, autumn bounties such as pears and apples carry into the winter with proper storage by farmers. The increase in hoophouses and tower gardens across the state helps extends the fresh options—yielding legumes and juicy tomatoes at home.

Preserved goods are a winter staple. You can buy the best chutneys and jams for your holiday meals from some of the same people whose summer fruits you loved. Farmers’ markets are also home to ranchers with Thanksgiving turkeys or New Year’s Eve lamb shanks. Don’t forget the local brews, ciders and wines. The following markets are open year-round.
